A little preparation now can make the end of the season much easier
As the summer season starts to wind down, now is a good time to start thinking about your boat’s autumn servicing.
Rather than waiting until the boat comes out of the water and trying to remember everything that needs attention, take a few minutes while you’re still using the boat to make a note of any snags, jobs or upgrades you’d like us to look at.
Make a list while you’re still on the water
Small issues are often easier to identify when you’re actually using the boat.
Perhaps you’ve noticed:
- An engine taking longer than usual to start
- A battery that isn’t holding charge as well as it should
- A navigation instrument that needs attention
- A pump, light or electrical system that’s intermittent
- A service that’s due
- Something you’ve been meaning to upgrade
Making a note of these now means they won’t be forgotten when the boat is lifted or laid up.
Think about the jobs you’d like to add
Autumn and winter can also be a good opportunity to tackle those jobs that aren’t necessarily urgent but would make a real difference next season.
This might be upgrading navigation equipment, improving battery capacity, replacing an ageing component or carrying out preventative maintenance.
Planning these jobs early gives us more time to discuss the options, source equipment and schedule the work.
