Princess V39
Our team recently completed an electronics upgrade on a Princess V39 at Chichester Marina, modernising the vessel’s navigation, radar and VHF systems while making use of some of the existing Raymarine equipment onboard.
The project was designed to give the owner a more up-to-date navigation system and improved VHF communications, without the need to replace equipment that was already performing well.
At the centre of the upgrade was a new Raymarine Axiom 2 Pro 12 S multifunction display.
The new Axiom 2 Pro provides a modern, high-resolution interface for the vessel’s navigation systems and brings the latest Raymarine functionality to the helm.
The existing Raymarine p70Rs autopilot head unit and i70s multifunction instrument display were retained and integrated into the upgraded system.
This approach allowed us to modernise the main navigation display while continuing to make use of the existing equipment where appropriate.
The vessel’s radar was also upgraded with a Raymarine Quantum 2 Q24D, installed with a 10m power and data cable.
The Quantum 2 provides modern radar capability and integrates with the new Axiom 2 Pro display, giving the owner a clear view of radar information alongside the vessel’s other navigation data.
This provides valuable additional awareness when navigating at night, in poor visibility or in busy areas of water.
We also installed a Raymarine Ray90 Black Box VHF.
The Ray90 is a modular VHF system designed to provide reliable communications while keeping the main electronics discreetly installed away from the helm.
The result is a clean installation with straightforward access to the VHF controls, giving the owner improved communications while underway.
One of the benefits of this project was being able to upgrade the key systems without replacing everything onboard.
The new Axiom 2 Pro, Quantum 2 radar and Ray90 VHF were integrated with the existing p70Rs autopilot and i70s instrument display.
This provided the owner with a significantly more modern and capable electronics system while retaining equipment that was still suitable for continued use.
Our engineers completed the installation and commissioning at Chichester Marina, ensuring the new equipment was correctly configured and communicating with the existing onboard systems.
A complete electronics replacement isn’t always necessary. In many cases, existing equipment can be retained while key components are upgraded to bring a vessel’s systems up to date.
